Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade: Andrade, 1st Round KO

The fight starts out slowly with Namajunas landing some jabs and leg kicks on Andrade, keeping her at distance. As the round progresses, Andrade begins to get comfortable, marching forward and landing heavy shots on the champ. Namajunas gets staggered a few times as the pressure of Andrade overwhelms the champion. Andrade lands that patented powerful right hook on the temple of Namajunas, putting her out cold late in the first and claiming the belt in front of her countrymen screaming by the thousands.
Jared Cannonier vs. Anderson Silva: Silva, Decision

Cannonier comes out aggressively trying to catch Anderson the same way he did David Branch. Cannonier wins the first round but begins to fade as the fight wears on, having trouble dealing with the elusiveness and escapability of Silva. Silva doesn’t land anything that particularly staggers Cannonier, but lands enough shots to earn a close decision win in his home country.
Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski: Aldo, 2nd Round TKO

Incredibly tough fight to pick, but I personally see this fight going similar to Aldo’s fight with Jeremy Stephens. Aldo comes out fighting conservatively and patiently, waiting for Volkanovski to stumble. Volkanovski lands on the former champ, staggering him but not finishing him. Aldo begins to find his rhythm late in the first into the second, landing a high volume of accurate strikes, with the pressure just being too much for the young Australian. Aldo puts him away midway through the second, and despite already having two losses against him, Aldo makes a legitimate case for another improbable shot at Max Holloway.
Thiago Alves vs. Laureano Staropoli: Alves, Decision

This is a classic case of a vast step up in competition being too much. Staropoli looked incredible in his UFC debut against…Hector Aldana. Aldana is 4-2 and that was his second UFC appearance. Now he gets a former title challenger in Alves, who himself is coming off of a win in his last outing. Alves, with confidence, is able to effectively outpoint the young Argentinian to earn one-sided decision.
Irene Aldana vs. Bethe Correia: Aldana, Decision

Correia comes out aggressively, taking the center of the octagon and landing early. However, the technical prowess and superiority of Aldana is way too much for Correia to handle. Aldana bloodies her up with a constant barrage of counterpunches and low kicks to dominate the Brazilian. Aldana isn’t a finisher, so she won’t get the desired result, but she does pick up a very dominant decision win in enemy territory.
