There’s Texas hot and then there’s Derrick Lewis’, my-balls-was-hot, and then there’s starting off the PPV portion of the main-card HOT. Needless to say, Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (22-7-0,1NC) will look to turn up the heat and get things off to a hot start, from his hometown of Houston, inside the Toyota Center against new-to-the-division, llir Latifi (14-7-0,1NC)

For those who watch the sport, watching a Derrick Lewis fight is basically like watching one of Kimbo’s (RIP) backyard fights but in a more controlled/ professional environment. The man proudly has a tattoo across his chest with the words “knockout King” and as an ode to his chest piece; he aims to put his opponents out in KNOCKOUT fashion.
It might as well be a fair warning to anyone stepping in the cage with him and unfortunately for llir Latifi, he’ll be that opponent across the cage from “the black beast” this weekend and disappointing his hometown crowd is the last thing Lewis will look to do.

“The Black Beast” is yet to suffer defeat in his home state of Texas and has no intention of it happening this weekend, especially when it comes a day after his birthday. The greatest gift he could possibly get is a finish of his opponent this Saturday, but the greatest gift he could possibly give us is one of his infamous post-fight victory speeches which rank amongst some of the greatest of all time (just ask Travis Browne).
