With title implications on the line in the night’s main event between two mountains – it’s easy to focus on that one bout and forget about the rest of the card. However, another fight that should be on the minds of many is that of, a fan favorite, Eryk “YA BOI” Anders (11-4). “YA BOI” will be on the preliminary portion of the card and looking to get back in the win column vs. Vinicius Moreira (9-2).

Eryk Anders is not one that gets accustomed to being on the wrong end of an outcome when it comes to MMA or sports in general, for that matter. A former student/athlete at the University of Alabama (“Roll Tide”), Eryk played football and was a solid part on a defense that went on to win a National Championship. His success from football continued into MMA. “Ya Boi” started his MMA career going 11-1 and was victorious in 3 of his first 4 UFC bouts. His most recent victory was nearly a year ago and against Tim Williams where he won via Soccer Kick KO (for those who haven’t seen that KO, I’m sure it can be found on the UFC Fight Pass App. Somewhere under “NSFW”).

After a fast start in the UFC, Anders has finally hit adversity. He’s lost three straight (Thiago Santos, Elias Theodorou, and Khalil Roundtree) and for those that know a thing or two about the UFC, it’s never a good thing to be on the wrong end of a fight 3 times in a row. With his most important fight to date in front of him this weekend, a win could keep him in the UFC but a loss could spell the end of his time within the organization.

With his back to the goal line, something tells me Anders is built for this kind of moment and just as some are ready to count him out, he’s ready to go all in and provide a goal line stance worth watching. He’s gone on to say that he’s physically and mentally in a great place and excited to go out there and fight. This fight may not have title implications but some fights are worth more than a title, some fights are to just keep on going.
Be sure to catch this can’t miss out on the preliminary portion of UFC on ESPN 3, this Saturday, June 29th.
